INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE (ICC)

An Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is a committee constituted to receive and redress complaints of sexual harassment in work places or educational institutions. The purpose of this body would be to address the complaints of sexual harassment and assist the victims to protect their dignity at the workplace.

Process of making complaints of sexual harassment

An aggrieved person is required to submit a written complaint to the ICC within 3 months from the date of the incident and in case of a series of incidents within in a period of 3 months from the date of the last incident. Provided that where such complaint cannot be made in writing, the Presiding Officer or any Member of the ICC shall render all reasonable assistance to the person for making the complaint in writing. Friends, relatives, colleagues, psychologists or any other associate of the victim may file the complaint in situations where the aggrieved person in unable to make a complaint on account of physical or mental incapacity or death.
