M.O.S.C. College of Nursing has formed a Nature club as part of NSS activity. The club has two teacher incharges and student representatives from all the batches. As an initial activity of nature club, all the trees in the campus were labeled with their local, biological and English name. The nature club also initiated a vegetable garden in the backyard of college campus with assistance from Krishibhavan, Kadayiruppu. The vegetable garden started with grow bag cultivation (100 grow bags) and later with land cultivation. The major crops planted for land cultivation include plantains, elephant yam, tapioca, tomatos, brinjal and green chilies. The crops are given adequate manures at regular intervals as per the advice of agriculture officer. The planted crops are getting adequate yields as expected and harvesting of the crops were done by the students themselves and the vegetables thus obtained were used in the student mess for preparing food for the students. The nature club also used to observe World Environment Day, World Water Day, World Earth Day and many other important days in association with the NSS unit of the college. Our college bagged second prize in vegetable garden project among self-financing institutions in Ernakulam District.
